Self employed wondering aimlessly through the universe for an office space other then your home?
Link Coworking is a membership club that brings people together who share the need for a place to conduct their business in an interactive space. They have private meeting spaces, a conference room, printers, a kitchenette with coffee every morning and even interns to help assist you in your project. Everyone is very friendly. I find as a self employed person it was a great place to network. By being in the network it offered alot of solutions for my business I wouldn’t get being at a home office or a coffee shop.
I had the opportunity to photograph several different business owners within Link. The owner Liz is the queen of networking and couldn’t be nicer. She has the hospitality mentality of a 5 star resort. If she can’t help you she will connect you with the people that can.

Growing Roots empowers and educates Spanish and English-speaking low-income parents of children with special needs about their child’s needs through interactive classes and support groups sensitive to cultural, socioeconomic and language differences.
I have the opportunity to join forces with Growing roots to create photography and video to help support their cause in helping these families. My Spanish is very broken and I know very few phrases so its been a challenge to photograph as well as video the kids and the mothers. It’s a very humbling experience not being able to understand what is communicated. Recently I’ve had the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica and Mexico. I was there for just a few weeks. I used to judge immigrants more harshly who came to this country without knowing any English. The truth is that its this huge overwhelming learning curve. I understand the blank stare of ” No entiendo que mi español es malo “- No understand my spanish is bad.
Maria Hendendez is the leader of this group with the bigger heart. She does so much good for so many of these people. They have all sorts of different types of classes that are very hands on, there is a Yoga class that is held. They have baby sitters there for the moms. It really is a great service. I believe that any form of education is a great cause to support.
They have a fundraiser coming up on May 12 in Austin Texas.
Join Growing Roots for an evening of drinks, food and live music. We look forward to sharing our impact within the East Austin community- providing free classes and support groups to low-income parents of children with special needs. There is a fundraiser May 12 in Austin.

What a collection of “home made” super heroes. This is a story about gamers becoming their heroes and making their own Utopian society called Unicorn City. It is described as Napoleon Dynamite meets The Mighty Python. Starring Devin McGinn, Jaclyn Hales and Jon Gries and Directed by Bryan Lefler.

This was a super fun day of shooting- I shot the cast members- there was 30-40. I would shoot a few people then go on set and shoot what they were shooting. I had a set built outside with the cast members in the shade and I was in the heat of the sun all day. I did get a bit punchy by the end of the day.
I had so much fun the images that I created a calendar.

Every 50 feet or 5 minutes which ever comes first there is a musician/ band at the SXSW Festival. From what I understand the grass plays music. Walking down Congress or the famous 6th Street is intimidating with what I call the Sea of Party People. It’s like spring break but cooler with the huge variety of music, films and technology/ classes. I really loved and enjoyed the music but swimming through the crowd for hours is a bit much.
Did I mention Parking- I had to take out a 2nd mortgage – lol. Not really but it was on average $30 to park for the day. So if I wasnt working the madness I would just ride the bike around.
The big theme this year for the technology was Twitter this and Twitter that. Tweet to get savings, sync your credit card with your twitter account and get free music tickets, Tweet this ridiculous photo of yourself and get this. So in a crowd of people everyone is tweeting showing off that they are there and maybe not really enjoying being there…. except for the free drinks!
There was also this new technology of having all your credit cards, membership cards, discounts, coupons all in one application on your phone. Then you need to purchase something you wave your phone and then the purchase is made. Which actually makes me nervous. Next thing you know you will have a code/signal inserted in your body. No need for a cell phone you just tap your wrist to make a phone call. Scary! So that’s on next years agenda. Wont do it.

Austin Texas Event Photography Cass Studios

Gemstone & Beaded jewelry at its finest at Semiprecious.com.  I recently did some photography for the website and was baffled about the amount and shear volume of jewelry.  I walked into this rooms with 1,000′s of pieces.  Photograph all of these please.    Anything from beaded necklaces in every gemstone known to man, to Sterling Silver necklaces, rings, bracelets, pendents, cufflinks, brooches even gemstones for healing.  There is something for everyone man woman, child or any event- formal casual or particular.

Some of my favorites were the beaded scarfs.  You can wrap them in 10 different ways and they come in several different color combinations.   I had an amazing model to shoot all this jewelry she stayed completely still the entire time and never talked back.  I didnt have to feed her either, however she never laughed at my jokes which is a problem.   It was very one sided.  It was almost like she was a manikin.

This is the first time when covering this festival that I have actually been able to get more into the films then the coverage of the glitz, the glamor, the  constant party surrounding the festival.   As a press photographer of the festival I am covering premiers, red carpets, parties, panels, and more parties for 12-15 hour days.  I am working hard.   It is an extremely intense experience running around constantly event to event surrounded by 1,000′s of people in a blizzard getting every single person I photograph name to caption  and send out to the universe in a timely manner.  It is a marathon.  I photograph hundreds of people in a day.  Also I am terrible at name that celebrity/ politician.  Which I know is very ironic considering I am in the Entertainment business.  Rarely do I get to actually seen films.  This year I actually got to see some films which was really exciting.  It helps me to get to know the people I am photographing, understand their purpose and get more involved with my subjects verses this whirlwind coverage.

Each year it gets easier.  I understand the game better and there are more fun moments.  I get the opportunity to photograph A-List Actors, Politicians and affluent people in the community.  I always get asked what famous people I photographed so here are a few : a few Kennedy’s, the Attorney General  Eric J Holder, Governor Gary Herbert, Danny Glvoer, Liz Tyler, Bradley Cooper, Dennis Quaid, Toni Braxton, Zoe Zaldona, Julia Ormond, Tiffany Hines, Jesse Williams, Dennis Haysbert, Frank Langella, Edward James Olmos, and lots more.

Mirazozo luminarium is a sculpture people enter to be immersed in radiant light and colour.  It is inspired by the beauty of natural geometry and by Islamic architecture.  It features winding passages of small domes inspired by repetitous forms found in the bazaars of Iran.  The colors is created purly by the light shining through the couloured plastic.  All the individual pieces have been cut and glued together by hand in Nottingham England.   Its quite remarkable.  Let yourself wonder.

The Mirazozo is visiting Austin Texas right outside the long center across from Lady lake.  The exhibit has been traveling the world since 1992!

Age of the Dragons is a cross of Moby Dick with Dragons.

Here is a brief plot summary :

Age of the Dragons is a re-imagining of Herman Melville’s classic novel Moby Dick. Set in a mythical realm where Captain Ahab and crew hunt dragons for the vitriol that powers their world, Ishmael, a charismatic harpooner joins their quest. Ahab’s adopted daughter Rachel, beautiful and tough, runs the hunting vessel. Ahab’s obsession is to seek revenge on a great “White Dragon” that slaughtered his family when he was young and left his body scarred and mauled, drives the crew deeper into the heart of darkness. In the White Dragon’s lair Ahab’s secrets are revealed and Rachel must choose between following him on his dark quest or escaping to a new life with Ishmael. Written by M Daines

Working on set there was very few days with Dragons.  So for most of the scenes the actors had to act like there was a dragon there.   They green screen the dragon in. The film  was shot in Utah- during the winter.  What was funny is there was a ship they had that sail through the forest.  On this journey for ” the White Dragon”.
